On the north side of the Khao Yai National Park you can find various nice hotels and resorts as well as the Palio Khao Yai shopping destination. I didn’t call it a shopping mall or similar as this place is setup as a small Italian village. While maybe a bit strange to find an Italian village in the middle of Thailand it has a certain charm. The Thai people seem to love to place and also loads of tourists visit Palio Khao Yai daily.
Within Palio Khao Yai you find a range of shops in narrow little streets and small squares as one could find in an old Italian town. Some of the shops are the typical Thai shops you find all over the country but also a range of small boutiques can be found here.
Initially the entrance to Palio Khao Yai was free. Later they startedcharging an entry fee. It wasn’t very much but created a bit of complaints on the internet. Since then the policy was changed again. I am not sure what the latest is here on this so you might want to check this out if you plan to visit Palio Khao Yai and see this as a possible obstacle.
I always loved to come here either after or prior visiting the Khao Yai National Park. One could e.g. make a trip from Bangkok and enter the park via the south side close to Nakhon Nayok. After a visit to the park (see post on the park here) you can take a rest at Palio Khao Yai and have a drink and/or something to eat. I always made it a two day visit and stayed in one of the nearby beautiful resorts. There are plenty to choose from in a wide range of price classes.
I have posted a number of photos below to give you an impression of Palio Khao Yai.
